CHURCH GROUND BREAKING

Manley Baptist Church of Morristown TN broke ground this Sunday on a new worship center and fellowship hall.

LEED ACCREDITED PROFESIONAL
March 15, 2008
MHM added another LEED AP to the staff on Saturday when Stephen Collins, a current MHM employee, passed the USGBC LEED AP exam. MHM now employs four LEED Accredited Professionals.

RENOVATED DOWNTOWN YMCA

The Lindsay Young Downtown YMCA opened the new wellness center. The new space provides those exercising with a large open space, sunlight, and a view of the Sunsphere.

Suzanne Anderson moved to Charlotte NC. Knoxville was her second hometown for 9 years, but it never replaced here true love, Pittsburgh, PA. We can only hope Charlotte does not replace Knoxville. She will be missed. Best of luck.

Warren Ince joins MHM. Warren received a Masters degree from Texas Tech University in 2005. He grew up with his grandparents in Whitney Texas. Before Warren joined MHM he worked for three years at another Knoxville Architecture office.

Mitchell McNabb joins MHM. Mitch comes to MHM after 34 years living and working in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He is a University of Tennessee graduate, who attended school with Doug McCarty. He is licensed in both Mississippi and Tennessee. Mitch took an early retirement from the firm of Allred-McNabb this year to return to his East Tennessee home town, Lenoir City, where he is building a new home on the family farm. Welcome back to Knoxville.

Russ Bash joins MHM. Russ graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2004. He worked at another local architecture firm for 3 years before joining MHM and is on the verge of taking the architecture licensing exam. In his spare-time he is remodeling his home in expectation of his and his wife’s first child.

NEYLAND STADIUM EAST CLUB
November 26, 2007
The ceiling of the University of Tennessee Neyland Stadium East Club is featured in the November issue of Architectural Products Magazine. In the article MHM architect, Stuart Butcher, and MHM interior designer, Barbara Tallent Bach, discuss the design considerations that lead them to choose an Armstrong ceiling system. The designers used a wood veneered ceiling ‘cloud’ system to create a free-floating rhythm in the East Club’s long corridors.

BRUCE McCARTY RECOGNIZED

Bruce McCarty’s is identified as one of East Tennessee most influential architects. “Among the 15 projects that East Tennessee members of the American Institute of Architects consider the best regional architecture created in the last 150 years, six were either designed or underwent significant renovations under McCarty and colleagues.” The Knoxville News Sentinel

MHM ARCHITECT FEATURED IN NEWS PAPER

Don Horton LEED AP, a Project Architect at MHM, was interviewed this week by the Knoxville New Sentinel. The News Sentinel article featured various ways East Tennessee businesses lower their energy bills by implementing green products and practices. Don informed The New Sentinel that, "developers are starting to see that it's profitable to build green."

MHM ADDS TWO LEED ACCREDITED PROFESSIONALS

Intern Architect Suzanne Anderson, who just celebrated her third anniversary at MHM, successfully completed the LEED accreditation exam -- congratulation Suzanne. In addition the newest MHM employee Charlotte Moellendick, a recent UT graduate, is also a LEED AP.

BRISTOL PUBLIC LIBRARY AWARDED

The Bristol Public Library was named 2006 Project of the Year by The Associated General Contractors of America – Tri Cities Branch. MHM congratulates GC BurWil Construction for the achievement.

MHM's NEW LICENSED ARCHITECT

John Tom Payne, University of Tennessee '01, successfully completed the nine part ARE exam. Congratulation JT! The 25 member MHM team is now comprised of two registered interior designers, and twelve licensed architects.

HELEN ROSS McNABB CENTERPOINTE FACILITY
March 1, 2007
McCarty Holsaple McCarty managed a successful bid opening on an addition to Helen Ross McNabb's Centerpointe Facility. Four bids from invited general contractors were within a few percentage points of each other and the low bid was under the client’s budget. The 4,500 square foot addition includes 16 more beds and an out-patient wing.

WALTERS STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

MHM has been approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents to provide master planning services for the four campuses of Walters State Community College.

MARYVILLE COLLEGE DORMITORY
January 22, 2007
Maryville College has commissioned MHM to design a new $6,600,000 dormitory facility for them on their Maryville, Tennessee campus.

JOHN DUNCAN FEDERAL BUILDING
January 8, 2007
MHM LEED Accredited Professional Don Horton managed the successful application process for the John Duncan Federal Building in downtown Knoxville to become the first LEED Certified Existing Building in Tennessee and only the third in the Southeast.
