When relocating their corporate headquarters from China to Virginia, General Creation wanted their offices to project an image of stability and success. Visitors access the boardroom and president’s office only after making a deliberate procession.
The lobby has an Asian inspired waterfall signifying prosperity. The company’s name, in copper letters mounted on verde marble, appears through the sheeting water. One also notices the bold statement made by handsome millwork and copper covered columns indicating the entry to an “invitation only” space. The floor pattern of both terra cotta and emerald colored marble leads the visitor into the reception area through a seamless wall of glass. Although the flooring material changes from marble to carpet, visually the pattern continues.
Once in the reception area, visitors wait on tailored lounge chairs. Displayed on glass shelves among more custom millwork, are company awards and memorabilia. Fine artwork treats the eye to intentionally vivid colors while another glass wall expands the space into the neighboring boardroom.
Recessed lighting and impressive green leather chairs enhance the cherry wood conference table. Black granite serves as a bar in the passageway from kitchen to boardroom. Through the opening, one can see a wall mounted brass logo, creating the final focal point in the sequence of spaces.
