Douglas H. McCarty, FAIA

aia College of Fellows 2021

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced that Doug McCarty, of McCarty Holsaple McCarty Architects, Inc. (MHM), has been elevated to its prestigious College of Fellows. AIA Fellows receive the institute's highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.

Nationally, 102 architects were honored, with McCarty being the sole architect from Tennessee to achieve this distinction. Since the inception of this honor, only 14 architects from East Tennessee have been elevated to FAIA, including Doug’s late father, Bruce McCarty, founder of MHM.

The AIA notes that architects who have made significant contributions to the profession and society and exemplify architectural excellence can become members of the AIA College of Fellows. Only three percent of AIA members reach this distinguished status.
