The headquarters for the Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) were relocated to the newly restored Miller's Building in downtown Knoxville. KUB desired a look of stability and tradition with an infrastructure that would take them technically well into the 21st Century.
MHM used exposed brick, cherry wood, interior glazing and warm finishes to create a look appropriate to the early 1900's building. Fiber optics and other cabling were hidden in the building's structure, including the use of columns as enlarged power poles. Besides both private and open plan offices, program spaces also included an Emergency Operation Center, Board Room, and Trading Area in the 60,000 square feet facility. The project was completed in 2000.
